I respect ya Caddy, I hope that this much is clear.

We will probably never see eye to eye on this issue. Here, I think you are the one that is not asking the "Why?" question. I don't see what "too much out there that cannot be appropriately explained" does for the God theory. If such reasoning builds a theory for a God, then it's a God of gaps.

If there is anyone that isn't searching for the answers to questions, it appears to be the religious; always content to say "it's God's work". This is like saying the area of a circle can be calculated through the use of Pi, but no one has any idea what Pi is. Such an answer has no value, until Pi can be explained and calculated. So, until someone can explain God, where and how he started, his scientific characteristics, etc, "God created the universe" is a cop out answer.

What if the everyone was content with "God created the universe, and we can't explain it"? Where would we be, for example, medically? We'd still be drilling holes in skulls (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trepanation" rel="nofollow">trepanning</a>) as a main means of treatment for many aliments.

Why should this surprise you my friend?
The issue that alot of scientists, and doctors and anthropologists will find is that there is just too much out there that cannot be appropriately explained by or simply defies science. When that happens every human being is forced into a decision in order to continue in any set frame of mind. You believe in a higher power, or you shrug and call it coincidence even when it isnt a coincidence... Send out a few emails to these people...and see what they tell you....
If its so baffling....and flabbergasting...seek out the reasons behind it all...dont just waggle the finger...WHY is the question you should be asking yourself...
