The Aura Is Back
As a teenager I was plagued by migraines. I’d get a migraine attack about once a month and feel the effect for 3-4 days afterwards. They would start with what is referred to as an aura (visual disturbances that are quite sickening but carry no pain), and last for about 45 minutes. By the time the aura is ready to explode into a headache, I would be virtually blind. After that I’d get my vision back at a drop of a hat, and the massive headache would finish the job putting me out of service 100%. At that point all I wanted was to experience no sensory input of any kind. No sound, and especially no light. Often times touch would be a distraction too, a reminder of being alive when all you want to do is die.

For the last month or so, I’ve been getting mild aura never experienced before. It usually comes while I am looking at my computer screen, or some other back lit device like a billboard. I’ve attached a picture that does a great job of showing what the aura looks like. In the new mild aura, I usually don’t get past Example ‘A’ (look close and you’ll see that there are examples ‘A’ through ‘E’). In the old days I’d go through ‘A’ to ‘E’ in about 45 minutes. By the time I got to Example ‘E’ I wouldn’t know what was real, and what was a distortion.
The return of the aura - now experienced more frequently than ever before but without fully maturing - is quite disturbing. Fever Few seems to keep it in check, but I have a bad feeling that this whole thing is just getting started. Damn, I hope not. :(

I used to get migraines real bad, but eventually I got down to where I have one about every 6 months. I’m extremely greatul that I don’t get them any more often than that.
If you were like me, you don’t feel better until you actually throw up. However, once a migraine is gone, its gone and I always felt like a new person when it finally lifted.

I seldom got the the throwing up part. Only maybe once or twice per 10 or so migranes. It actually made me feel worse because it makes the headache that much worse (yeah, when you first get the migrane you think the pain can’t possibly get any worse, but when the throwing up comes it becomes proof to the contrary). When it did happen, it would be somewhere between hour 2-5 and come with diarrhea. If hell exists, this is what it looks and feels like.
Have you tried fever few? Back then I didn’t know about it… Actually for 3-4 years I had no idea what I was suffering from. Found out from my teacher when I told him I have to go home because I am losing my vision. He asked if I get a headache after, and when I said so he told me I am going through a migrane. It was a few years more before I found out about fever few. Now I ALWAYS carry it with me. First sign of aura, I pop a couple pills… otherwise I try to take a pill once a day to keep the whole experience at bay.

No, I am not familiar with fever few. Mine, as mentioned, are so infrequent it wouldn’t really warrant taking medication.
What is strange though, is that as soon as I throw up, I feel 100% brand new better. Headache, vision, everything is right back to 100% good. Seems odd, but it’s true.
