‘Pro-life’ is simply ‘anti-choice’

I was going to write about pro-life, how it’s a misnomer since so many calling themselves that have polar opposite attitudes towards e.g. capital punishment. I was going to take it further back into the shady lanes of the anti-choice movement as it ignores the often fatal outcomes for pregnant women in societies that put the foetus’ survival ahead of the mother’s. But someone else already did a good job doing just that, so I’ll kindly point you in the direction of said piece.

  1. George says:

Pro-life or as you put it, anti-choice is not polar opposite to capital punishment attitudes. What you do not discern is that an unborn baby has not committed a crime, the criminal has or at least been convicted of doing so. You have pitted the innocent vs. the guilty.

The argument of putting the mother’s survival ahead of the fetus is not in question nor has ever been the argument. The rare case of a mother going to an abortion clinic to save her own life is not even thinkable. Over 99% of the time abortions are performed to cover another issue and that is adultery.

By the way – the huffington post is not a very reliable source.

George: a fetus is not an unborn baby; wrongful convictions and undiagnosed mental issues are why the death penalty is clearly immoral – so, there is no criminal in this case, just as there was no ‘unborn baby.’ And 99% of the abortions are not due to adultery – I’m willing to bet that a large subset of abortions are sought by young women brought up in poverty.
