“High Hopes”
Another evening slipped away quietly, most of my plans unfulfilled. This isn’t the first time, and is not a bad thing per-se. Planned on some reading, a walk, vids, and guitar, ended up with lots of educational YouTube on the subject I intended to read about and my daily Sudoku calendar solved into early February.
I’m beginning to think maybe I’ve lost the desire to play video games, and all that is left the old imprint. In the last 2-3 weeks I hardly played any games, and it isn’t due to lack of opportunity. Tonight’s run of events resulted in the extended pursuit of things likely to bring long term benefits, from musical skills to scientific and philosophical enlightenment.
I full realise that the last sentence sounded quite drab and uninteresting to a large segment of the population, to which I can only reply - with a smirk on my face - ‘bite me’.
Speaking of productivity, I’m releasing the second of my two IPB skins later today, Licht (German for ‘light’ - as coming from a light bulb, not relating to weight, nor the opposite of ‘dark’), of course now IPB 2.2 compatible. I’ve spent the last couple of days working on it, and while it isn’t perfect, I think the shortcomings are going to be noticed only by myself. For everything else, there is the bug report form.
Now, if you’re wondering as to some of the titles of my entries, they are the titles of tracks I’m listening to while writing here. If I can’t think of a title for an entry, I just use those. Today’s kinda fits with the evening I had, and is by Nightwish (thanks Rebecca).

Congrats on getting the skin completed. There is a ton of work that goes into making a skin and I don’t think I have the patience to do one.

You know, I don’t mind so much the work that goes into designing a skin. It’s nice to see it take shape, and progress. Quite rewarding. The issue I do have is converting a skin from one version of software to another. Really, you are simply trying to redo what you’ve already done once. That, I find very frustrating. The only motivation is knowing “hey, more links for Bytech and more people out there enjoying the skins”.
Also, using Linux for everything, and other freebies that come from the goodness of other people’s hearts, I try to find ways to give back to the community. Be it uploading my photos for free so other can use them, making a free skin, or simply helping others with the software they use. So yeah, just trying to add to the circle of virtual life, a big “Thank You” to the folks behind Linux, WordPress, MySQL, PHP, and many, many others technological marvels.
