Change of Plans

Thrady bailed on me again today. I only found out when I called 45 mins before we were supposed to get together and hang out. He didn’t even call to tell me. How rude is that, finding out when calling yourself?

I threw in a frozen pizza into the oven, and pulled it back out 30 seconds later. I wrapped it, put it back in the freezer, and called the pizza shop. My order will be ready in 10 minutes and I’m picking it up on my way out of town where I’ll go for a nice long walk. How’s that for a quick change of plans?

Referrals

Once every while I get asked where is the best place to buy a PC. If you are a geek and know what you want or need, I recommend a local PC only retailer. From experience I know to warn people that their service sucks, or is better defined as non-existent. You will get the best deal for you dollar, but you’re on your own from there.

The second recommendation is Staples. Yup, the big box store that is known for office supplies. I tell people to avoid Office Depot, Best Buy, and especially Future Shop. If you are going local and from someone big, make it Staples.

There is nothing amazing about Staples, in fact they are quite average. Their products are very similar to those of the other stores which I tell people to stay away from, and the price is about the same. So why Staples? Because they deliver the service and product without too many surprises. They are stable and predictable.

Nothing Matters When …

I used to think that answering the question “What matters most to you in life?” with “My health” was pretty selfish. Let me tell you: there is nothing selfish about that answer.

For the past two to three weeks lots of health related issues have been plaguing myself and those around me. Lots of uncertainty, sleepless nights, and quite frankly fear. Some people are doing better, but others are now going through something major.

Keeping up with my normal everyday stuff has helped me to keep some sort of sane mind frame, but tiredness is starting to take over. I’m keeping up with the Bytech forums, getting back into swing with Polifi, and doing a whole bunch of other things as well. I look forward to making those kind of issues the centre of my focus, and leaving the health related worries behind.

Maybe I’ll watch “Ultraviolet” to change tracks a bit. I have a feeling I won’t like it a whole lot, but the senseless violence might be a good distraction. :D

57 Channels And Nothing’s On

Channel 4 – Rock Star Super Nova
Channel 5 – So You Think You Can Dance
Channel 6 – America’s Got Talent
Channel 7 – The One

Not to mention Channel 12 and 49 airing content from 4 and 5. Sad and pathetic. Never understood those “talent” shows. I personally hate 90% of anything on them, and quite frankly the other 10% is not worth waiting through the total and utter crap and soap opera.

I know someone must watch this shit, or it wouldn’t be on TV in its many incarnations. Never was much for the disposable pop culture and quite frankly I think I’m allergic to it.

Read a book, start a pet project of some sort, go for a walk, anything… just please stop watching this crap so I can go through my life not being asked or hearing about it every damn day. Have mercy on me, please.
