The Aura Is Back

As a teenager I was plagued by migraines. I’d get a migraine attack about once a month and feel the effect for 3-4 days afterwards. They would start with what is referred to as an aura (visual disturbances that are quite sickening but carry no pain), and last for about 45 minutes. By the time the aura is ready to explode into a headache, I would be virtually blind. After that I’d get my vision back at a drop of a hat, and the massive headache would finish the job putting me out of service 100%. At that point all I wanted was to experience no sensory input of any kind. No sound, and especially no light. Often times touch would be a distraction too, a reminder of being alive when all you want to do is die.
