160,000+ km
That’s it, I’ve done it! I’ve taken my car four times around the globe. Yes, I rounded some numbers (earth’s circumference: meridional = 40,008 km, equatorial = 40,075 km), deal with it.
I’m the first owner of the Tercel I currently drive, and today it turned 160,000+ clicks. I only wish that the distance I put on it had been completed on trips as exciting as the one around the earth promises to be. Sure, oceans might be a bit of an issue, but if you’re thinking about those, you’re missing my point.
In case you’re still pondering the earth circumference thing, the earth is not round but a geoid. As the earth rotates at a high velocity it creates an equatorial bulge, increasing the earth’s equatorial circumference by roughly 67 km. Want to know something else? Despite the fact that Mt. Everest is credited as being the tallest mountain on earth, the peek of Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador takes the cake for being farthest away from the earth’s centre.

Congrats! My Crown Vic just rolled over 300,000kms a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t put them all there, but still … it’s a whole lot of km’s.
My mom’s Aerostar has me beat though … last I saw, she was closing the gap on 400,000kms. Might be over that now.

Those are some wicked numbers! Took me close to nine years to reach 160K, and at this pace 300K should come around 2015. I’ll probably get there too, considering the car hasn’t had a single mechanical failure thus far! I wouldn’t mind driving until 2015 without regular car payments. :)

That is very impressive, especially considering my mom is a courier and drives for a living and has 320,000 km/sec. Her vehicle is a 99 so it’s been about 9 years too.
You drive half as much as a courier does. Thats a lot of driving.

My KM/day is on average 50. Considering the few trips to BC and a drive around the Great Lakes would bring the total down by a few clicks. With friends out of town, and my frequent excursions to visit them and a few parks and camping grounds, it adds up pretty quickly. :)

You people have done a lot of kilometers. I just reached 33,000 on my Civic.
400,000 , wow. Wonder how much maximum km a car can do.
